Salutation Sundays
youth-forward drumming class & community circle. presented in partnership with Nyabinghi Cultural Ministry. centering youth, open to all.
the ritual
what happens on sunday.
five movements of rhythm and witness. the youngest carry the beat — the elders carry the room. open to every body that wants to drum.
arrival + tuning
we settle into the room together. drums get tuned, hands get warm, the youth take their place at the head of the circle.
foundation rhythm
we begin with the heartbeat. one steady pulse, every drum in conversation with every other drum. nothing fancy — just together.
call & response
elders call, youth answer. youth call, elders answer. the rhythm teaches the lesson before any words are spoken.
circle of voice
we pause. each person can name what came up — what their hands knew that their mouth hadn't said yet. brief, honest, witnessed.
blessing the week
we close in salutation — gratitude for the rhythm, for the youth, for the lineage we drum into the week ahead.
when + where
schedule & location.
we drum the 1st & 3rd sundays of each month, 3–5pm PST — a youth-forward circle in partnership with Nyabinghi Cultural Ministry.
